Paris Saint-Germain will likely be looking to bolster their midfield this summer. Over the last few months, the capital club have been linked to various players, one of them being Bayern Munich standout Joshua Kimmich.

The versatile player is under contract with the German giants until 2025, after which he’ll need to make a decision regarding his future. If Kimmich decides it is time for a new chapter in his career, there will be several suitors, with PSG and FC Barcelona among them.

However, SPORT reports that the Catalan side would have the edge over any club for the 29-year-old. According to the Spanish media outlet, the option of Barça will attract him a lot.

Last summer, he was already speaking with Xavi Hernández and was close to taking the step, but the Blaugrana club could not afford the operation financially.

SPORT continues by saying that Bayern Munich does not want to let him go for less than €50 million, although they are willing to explore various formulas, and there are two Barça players who are very interesting to them. Their priority is Ronald Araujo, but Frenkie de Jong also fits into their plans, and Kimmich’s card could help them.

Bayern Munich would be willing to use the midfielder as a bargaining chip to lower the transfer fee for Araujo or de Jong, exchanging the player and adding some extra cash. It all hinges on the players’ own willingness and, most importantly, how they’re valued.

Kimmich does appear keen on joining Barcelona, having given the green light to the move a year ago and Barcelona sees him as a crucial signing. It will be interesting to see how this file plays out for PSG.
